SquishMat (squishmat.com) helps you find a mattress that fits your body. You don't need an account to use the site, and we collect as little as we can get away with. This page explains what we do collect and why.
What we collect
- Quiz answers. The things you tell us in the mattress finder (body type, sleep position, budget, and similar) are used to generate your recommendations. They describe your mattress needs, not your identity.
- Anonymous usage events. When you click through to a retailer, we log the mattress and page it happened on under a random session ID that exists only for that page visit. It isn't tied to a cookie, an account, or your name, and we can't connect it back to you.
- Analytics data. We use Google Analytics to understand traffic — which pages people visit, roughly where visitors come from, and what device they use. See the next section.
- Email address, only if you ask. If you request your results by email, we use your address to send them. We don't add you to a marketing list.
Cookies and Google Analytics
SquishMat itself does not set cookies. Google Analytics, our traffic measurement tool, sets its own cookies to distinguish visitors and measure things like which pages are read and whether visitors arrived from a search engine or a shared link. Google's handling of this data is described in the “How Google uses information” disclosure. You can opt out of Google Analytics entirely with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by using a browser or extension that blocks analytics scripts — the site works fine either way.
What we do with it
We use this data to make recommendations, see which guides and mattresses people find useful, and understand where visitors come from. That's it.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we don't share it with third parties except the service providers that run the site (our hosting provider, Cloudflare, and Google Analytics as described above).
Retailer links and money
When we link to a mattress retailer, it's because the mattress matched your answers — not because anyone paid us. SquishMat currently has no affiliate relationships, sponsorships, or paid placements. If that ever changes, we'll disclose it clearly on the site and update this policy.
Data retention
Anonymous usage events are kept so we can see trends over time. Because they were never tied to your identity, there is nothing in them to delete on request — but if you have concerns, get in touch and we'll help.
Children
The site is intended for adults shopping for mattresses and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If our data practices change, we'll update this page and the effective date above.
